Santos Reis PartyThe Santos Reis Party happens in the first week of each year, from January 1st to 6th, in the Santos Reis Neighborhood.
It is a religious party and, at the same time, profane, coordinated by the Church and the Communitarian Council, and counts on the support of the Natal City Hall.
Its schedule consists of masses, novenas, procession, presentation of folkloric groups, local bands concerts, beyond tents with drinks and typical foods.
Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes PartyCommemorated in the last week of January, the Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes Party is one of the traditions kept in the Redinha Beach.
Organized by the Church, it counts on the participation of the fishers’ community and vacationers.
Masses, novenas, processions (by foot and on boats), boat and photograph competitions, presentation of folkloric groups, concerts, are the attractions of this Party that joins the profane to the religiosities.
CarnivalThe Carnival is one of the few parties that are commemorated in the whole world, even so happens in different dates.
In Brazil, it is celebrated in February or March.
A peculiarity of the Carnival is that, beyond the five traditional days (from Saturday till Wednesday), it has many previous and pos carnival parties.
In Natal, the Carnival schedule includes these previous parties: the Kengas Dance, Choice of Momo Queen and Momo King and General Rehearsal; and there are the parties that happen during the five days: Ball of Masks, Gold Night, Parade of the Samba Schools, Tribes of Indians Parade, Electric Sound Cars and Bands.
The entire event is coordinated by SECTUR - Secretary of Tourism of the city.
June Celebrations - Natal Traditional Folkloric Dance Teams Festival In the month of June, some festivities are performed through Natal neighborhood.
These parties used to be organized isolated from each other. Now, with the support of the SECTUR and the Council of Communitarian Actions, they had been inserted in a group of festivities that presents about 400 fairs and 100 traditional and stylized dance groups. A Festival of Traditional Folkloric Dance Teams awards the best presentations with trophies and money in the end of the commemorations.
Traditional Folkloric Dance Teams Festival During the celebration of the June Parties, (that celebrates Saint John, Saint Anthony and Saint Peter), happens the Traditional Folkloric Dance Teams Festival.
The event happens in the second half of June, in the Via Direta Mall, with presentation of groups all of the State.
The one chosen as the best is awarded with the participation in the Regional Competition.
Nossa Senhora da Apresentação PartyNossa Senhora da Apresentação Party is Natal Patroness. Her celebration day is November 21st.
The Party starts with a mass at the Pedra do Rosario, it follows in procession trhough downtown till New Cathedral, where happens another mass.
It is coordinated by Natal Archdiocese that receives the support from the municipal government.
CarnatalOne of the most recent events of Natal but that already is configured as local tradition and it attracts thousands of people, every year, from all parts of Brazil and the world.
Considered as an out of time carnival party, the
Carnatal always happens in the beginning of December, at the Machadão square, and congregates some bands of Axé Music, frevo, pagode and other regional styles, besides local artists, who are presented in electric sound cars and drag thousand of revellers united in blocks.
Christmas Parties - Christmas in NatalThe Christmas in Natal happens during December, in the Meio, and Ponta Negra beaches and downtown, performing folkloric presentations, pyrotechnic shows and the traditional Iemanjá Party.
Christmas ActAlso celebrating the Christmas festivities, the Christmas Act occurs downtown, always on December 22nd.
It is a street spectacle, where there is the meeting of all the city cultural manifestations, such as: folkloric groups, traditional folkloric dance groups, samba schools and Indians tribes, dance groups etc.
